Dear Reader, I'm going to cut to the chase: how was your birth? Beautiful? Ecstatic? Powerful? Traumatic? Confusing? Not the way you wanted, but you're still ok? Many of these together? Honestly, regardless of how your birth went, we ALL need some level of repair. Help recombobulating. Integrating. This is actually a vital part of the initiation of birth that our culture misses. One of the reasons we struggle so much in postpartum and mothering. βMotherCircle is a way to close that gap - to experience integration. π» Not only is MotherCircle an opportunity to work out your own puzzles, but because we are learning together, sitting together and witnessing each other, it is for the community. For the collective. We are doing the work for ourselves and for the future! This is culture making in process. One that honors birth as a rite of passage, and listens to the mothers! We can do one-on-one work, but there is a different power in doing the work as a collective of bodies and energies. One person doesn't create culture. We do it together with a shared understanding of where we want to be going. And perhaps how we get there. Will you join me in imagining a future that honors and truly cares for mothers, children, elders, ceremony, rites of passage? Will you join us in tending to yourself while also tending to the collective?
β But let us pause... DEEP BREATH Maybe this sounds great but too much for you? a little too deep? too much of a commitment for something you don't quite get? Our first class - MotherDive - is your "free trial" class. So you can get a taste. No commitment. (But I would appreciate an RSVP). Sunday, Sept 29, 11:30am at Triad Pelvic Health. This is the same time and place that the rest of the class will meet and it is the first class in the 8-week MotherCircle series.
β If you can't wait to dive in and want to register for the full class, I offer tiered, class-equitable, pay-what-supports-you pricing!
I can't wait to see you! Just so that you know all the ways I can support you |
If I can share space in your inbox, I'll whisper my heart-felt musings on the making of Mother Culture - and invite you to our gatherings
Dear Reader, As MotherCircle convened again this fall, I am reminded of why I do this work. And of the mission that I am on: to prepare women for labor, birth, and motherhood. It sounds a bit trite or perhaps even unnecessary since our bodies were βmade to do it.β What I mean by prepare is not just stretching the body, practicing βcomfort measures,β and having all the gadgets, diapers and clothing that you need. I want you to have the resource of inner wisdom so that you know how to listen to...
Dear Reader, Do you remember those last few weeks or months of pregnancy? Maybe there was some urgency to getting everything in place. Maybe there was some discomfort... waddling, needing 4 pillows to sleep at night, couldn't breathe or eat too much, but also perhaps a sense of stillness or closeness with your partner... But once baby came, all of that changed! In an instant! Your world upside down. Does anything feel familiar? I would like to offer something that may have resonance with your...
Dear Reader, When I had my first son, I thought I knew something about the nervous system...I was a yoga teacher and all. π§βοΈ But really, I knew nothing about MY nervous system. I didn't understand the nervous system in labor and birth, or the nervous system in bonding with our babies, and especially about this DAILY spiritual practice of mothering and how MUCH my nervous system directs this experience! Well, thankfully I've learned from some amazing women about embodied mothering - the birth...
